Stone Edge Details & Profiles

The edge detail is an important part of the overall look of a stone countertop—and one of the first decisions we review when developing a fabrication estimate. Different profiles require different levels of fabrication, finishing, and, in some cases, additional material.

We offer a range of standard and custom edge details, from simple profiles to highly customized designs. Explore the options below to find the look that best fits your project.

Group A - Simple Edge Details

Group A profiles are relatively simple to fabricate and are typically the most economical options.

The most common Group A edges we fabricate are the Eased or Polished Edge, and the Bullnose Edge.

Group B - Premium Edge Details

Group B profiles require additional fabrication and finishing and are among the most commonly selected options for our projects.

The most popular edge detail we fabricate is by far the mitered edge, which joins two pieces of stone at a 45-degree angle to create the appearance of a much thicker and more luxurious countertop.

Other common Group B edges include the Ogee, Dupont, and Quirk Miters.

Group C - Custom Edge Details

Group C encompasses custom and highly detailed edge profiles that require significantly more fabrication than our standard Group A and Group B options.

Because these edges are custom, the design possibilities are virtually unlimited. Curves, steps, tapers, laminations, and other details can be incorporated to create a truly distinctive profile.

Custom edges are priced based on the complexity of the design and the amount of fabrication and finishing required. Depending on the detail selected, Group C edges can be significantly more expensive than Group A or Group B profiles.

Radiused Edges

Radiused edges incorporate a continuous curve into the countertop rather than a straight edge or conventional corner.

These details have become increasingly popular in the high-end residential projects we work on, particularly in designs featuring curved islands, rounded corners, and softer architectural forms.

Radiused edges require significantly more technical fabrication and are not possible with every edge profile or stone application. We will review the design and material with your project team to determine whether the desired radius and edge detail can be fabricated successfully.
